Poems

Standing at the doorway,
Where our dreams once kissed the sky,
I see the girl at the corner of the road, pause,
Is it you, or just a shadow passing by?

You found me when I was falling apart,
lifting me with quiet care,
Teaching me to try again,
coaxing me to chase the Sun’s distant fire.

You were my muse, and I was your Moon,

You were my responsibility, afar, but together we crooned.

When I rose, you had walked away,
As if dawn had slipped into the darkest night sky.

You carried fears inside, held your dreams close,
I could never know where I belonged within those.
The room is still a mess, my steps uncertain,
and I’ve not changed; life’s weight still presses me down.

Now you’re in some unknown place,
whose address you never shared.
I do not know about your fears,
nor all the treasures you would have gathered.

When you want to rest your aching heels,

Come into my arms one last time,

To sleep, to rest, not to think,

And together we drift towards nothingness.
